Illinois Private Sewage Contractor Practice Exam

Illinois Raised Filter Beds are designed to work with both a Batch Aeration System and a Filter Bed, which is why this is the correct choice. The Batch Aeration System serves to provide the necessary aeration to the wastewater, allowing for effective treatment before it is distributed to the filter bed. The filter bed, in turn, acts as a physical and biological treatment mechanism, further purifying the effluent as it passes through the media, typically comprised of sand or gravel, which helps to remove contaminants.

By utilizing both systems together, the raised filter beds can achieve superior treatment performance, optimally managing the biological processes and improving effluent quality. This integrated approach ensures that the wastewater is adequately treated at every stage of the process, maximizing efficiency and effectiveness in managing private sewage systems.
